The site is located in the southwestern part of Wuxi’s central district, within the plot of the First Cotton Mill of Wuxi Shenxin Textile Factory No. 3. The plot is strip-shaped, stretching 280 meters north to south and 45 meters east to west. This renovation project is part of a mixed-use neighborhood that integrates residential, cultural, and commercial areas within the overall master plan. The industrial buildings will be repurposed with new functions and facilities, transforming them into commercial spaces that bring vitality and energy to the old factory buildings nestled in the city's core. Meanwhile, the renovation of the historic structures will reshape this waterfront interface into an urban pedestrian commercial district with a distinctive open-space axis as the heart of urban vibrancy. The preservation of industrial heritage combined with commercial development presents a dual challenge, requiring a balance of diversity and cohesion in the design.
