Design of Rental Housing Projects
Design of Rental Housing Projects
For years, Zhongfang Architecture has been deeply involved in designing affordable housing projects. Starting with the award-winning Pingyang New Village Relocation Base in the 1990s, which received the Ministry of Construction’s Planning and Design Gold Award, the firm has completed various pioneering projects, such as Shanghai's first public rental housing community, Yangpu New Jiangwan Shangjing Garden; the high-end rental apartment project, Jingrui Shangbinjiang; the Huangpu Financial Talent Apartment; and upcoming rental projects with Vanke and China Merchants. This work reflects an evolution from meeting basic residential needs to designing dynamic living spaces that emphasize quality.
Drawing on extensive experience in rental housing design, Zhongfang Architecture analyzes market trends, relevant rental housing standards, and technical requirements. The planning approach focuses on creating a lively environment, cohesive spatial organization, unit scale, and continuous boundaries. Product design employs strategies that are standardized, flexible, and modular, meeting modern housing needs.
A key challenge in rental housing design is determining the most efficient area allocation for public spaces and facilities to balance social interaction and profitability. This involves creating multifunctional social spaces that cater to the networked, community-oriented lifestyles of young people today.
