Shanghai Lingang New Town
Lingang New Town is an important part of the Shanghai International Shipping Center. In the main urban area covering 363,000 square meters, the GMP Architects, presided over by the famous German architect Professor Meinhard von Gerkan, undertook the overall planning. Zhongfang Architecture completed the planning, architectural design and construction drawing design for the first-phase residential area.
The planning takes the 5.6-square-kilometer Dishui Lake as the center. Around the lake, the living center belt, urban function belt, ecological island residence belt, etc. are arranged in a concentric circle and radial pattern. Among the various functional belts, among the ecological islands, and between the central urban area and the industrial and logistics areas, large areas of forests are used as intervals, and the forest greenery accounts for one-third of the total land area. This spatial form easily reminds people of the planning idea of the "Garden City", just as it is described in Western architecture history books: the town surrounds a central park, and the periphery is a residential ring, and large areas of forests separate the residences from the industrial areas...
In the overall planning, the concept of "residential unit" is strengthened to create a neighborhood residential space with a sense of enclosure and a pleasant scale. The contradiction between the planning texture and the orientation of the residential space is resolved to adapt to the traditional living patterns of the people and provide good sunlight and landscapes for all residences. The uniqueness of the "Urban Island" residential community at a 45-degree angle is emphasized. The wedge-shaped green spaces and the residential units in the due north-south direction form interesting exterior spaces.
